Description

DEBUT challenges teams of undergraduate students to identify and solve real world problems in healthcare.   Strong DEBUT submissions will define a healthcare problem and demonstrate the development of a device, product, or technology designed to solve it. Examples include but are not limited to: surgical devices, home health care devices, diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative applications, rehabilitative and assistive technologies, technologies for underserved populations and low resource settings, point-of-care systems, precision medicine, or other innovations that will have a substantial impact on clinical care and patient outcomes.

First prize
Cash Prize Amount: $20,000
Judged First based on Significance, Impact, Innovation, and Working Prototype criteria.

Second Prize
Cash Prize Amount: $15,000
Judged Second based on Significance, Impact, Innovation, and Working Prototype criteria.

Third Prize
Cash Prize Amount: $10,000
Judged Third based on Significance, Impact, Innovation, and Working Prototype criteria.

Venture prize
Cash Prize Amount: $15,000
In addition to Significance, Impact, Innovation, and Working Prototype criteria, this prize will consider Market potential/ economic feasibility, and Patentability

Design Excellence prize
Cash Prize Amount: $5,000
This prize will focus mostly on Design Excellence.
